Filing offices are required by Article 9 to return an acknowledgment copy of a filed UCC record to the filing party. The information in a UCC filing acknowledgment can indicate potentially costly problems with the record. Yet, too many secured parties fail to carefully review the acknowledgment copy before archiving it.
