Illinois – Legislation Allows for Professional Limited Liability Companies

Senate Bill 3398 (Public Act 100-0894) signed by the governor and effective August 14 amended the Limited Liability Company Act and the Professional LLC Act to permit conversions of LLCs to professional LLCs with no filing fee and to require the name of a professional LLC to contain “PLLC”.  The bill also provides for certificates of registration to expire on January 1, 2019 and on January 1 of every third year thereafter for professional LLCs, professional service corporations and medical corporations.
