In an effort to provide greater support to new entities seeking to do business in New York, lawmakers approved an amendment requiring the Department of State to provide information and business resources to anyone applying to reserve an entity name. The new legislation applies to new corporations and LLCs, and includes the following:
- Contact information and website address for the New York state small business development center serving their region;
- Contact information and website address for the New York state Entrepreneurship Assistance Center serving their region;
- Contact information and website address for Business Mentor NY;
- Contact information and website address for Empire State Development, including information about the agency’s resources for supporting and assisting new businesses.
The General Assembly also authorized remote meetings to address ongoing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
These and other changes are captured in the Spring 2022 edition of New York Laws Governing Business Entities Annotated.
